Contact lens fitting at Ewing Optical

Our Approach

The Right Lens for Your Eyes

A contact lens is a thin, curved lens placed on the tear film covering the surface of your eye. Choosing the right one depends on your prescription, the shape of your eye, your lifestyle, and how your eyes respond to different materials. At Ewing Optical, we don't guess — we measure, fit, and follow up.

  • Trial Lenses Provided

We send you home with samples so you can experience how a lens feels before committing to a full supply.

  • Fitting & Follow-up Included

We adjust material, curve, and fit until your eyes are comfortable and healthy.

  • All Lens Types Available

From daily disposables to rigid gas permeable lenses, we carry and fit the full spectrum.

  • Care & Maintenance Training

We teach you proper lens hygiene and handling before you leave our office.

Lens Types

We Fit Every Prescription

Whether you have a simple nearsighted prescription or a complex astigmatism, there's a contact lens option for you.

Soft Disposable

Daily, bi-weekly, and monthly replacement lenses in both spherical and toric formats. The most common and convenient option for most patients.

Toric (Astigmatism)

Specially designed to correct astigmatism, toric lenses are weighted to stay in the correct orientation on your eye for crisp, stable vision.

Multifocal & Bifocal

For patients with presbyopia who need correction at multiple distances.

Rigid Gas Permeable (GP)

Durable, high-oxygen lenses that often provide crisper vision than soft lenses. Recommended for certain prescriptions and corneal conditions.

Extended Wear

Approved for overnight wear, these lenses are made from highly oxygen-permeable silicone hydrogel materials.

Color Contacts

Cosmetic and prescription color lenses available with a proper fitting exam. Change your look while still correcting your vision.

The Fitting Process

What Happens at a Contact Lens Exam

A contact lens exam is separate from a standard comprehensive exam. In addition to measuring your vision, we evaluate the health and curvature of your cornea, check your tear film, and determine which lens material and brand will work best for your eyes.

  • Corneal Measurement

We measure the size and curvature of your cornea to find the correct base curve and diameter for a comfortable fit.

  • Tear Film Evaluation

Dry eye affects contact lens comfort significantly. We assess your tear production and recommend lenses accordingly.

  • Long-term Care Program

We schedule follow-up appointments to monitor lens fit and eye health over time, adjusting your prescription as needed.
